Last night I decided to
experiment. Typically, I'll run a CHKDSK maintainance, and then defrag. I do it about once a week.
Last night, I decided to run the first with the hope that CHKDSK would take less time.
So - I run Disk Clean Up, and clear my cache (emptied the "Temporay Internet Files" folder. I leave my network connections open (and modem on).
I start defrag and close the office. I come back, ready to shutown and restart so the scheduled CHKDSK will run. Before I do, I run Disk Clean again, and low and behold, there are 1.5 MB (1500KB) of temporary internet files. I look at the files. There is a BMP (a question mark with a circle around it), some XML files and JavaScript. There were in the IE subfolder.
How (and why) are these files ending up on my system? No one was using the system!
