When you look at demographics it makes sense. The hispanics are the fastest growing segment in the country. Some predictions say with 10-20 years, they will be the majority. The politicians are catering to that vote block by appeasing the vocal majority on issues of immigration and benefits.

This is the absolute beginning of the decline of the American empire.

>It's funny when you think that this country's government and system were founded on immigrants at one time. At one time you could enter any country you wished (doesn't mean you had a good life when you got there though). With world conditions the way they are, that can no longer be the case. My biggest problem is not with people coming to this country but with the inequality in regards to the rights and benefits we all receive. It has switched from medical care for the poor to free everything for the illegals. What is worse is that 'poor' citizens will not receive the same benefits and free passes...

>>>That is very interesting to know. I think more information should be available to workers in all countries regarding the work availability, quality of work, quality of life, economic situation, etc around the globe.

>>>For instance, I wonder if any other countries have the same number of 'illegal' immigrants that the U.S. has. Granted the majority come across our borders from the south but they live in almost all states now. NC has a huge illegal immigrant population. Can they get work if they enter a European country illegally? What about school for their children and medical care? For instance, here in NC I had to show a birth certificate and medical records (proof of immunization) for my daughter before she could enter school. Yet illegal immigrants are not required to provide the birth certificate plus they receive free immunizations from the county health department. In addition they receive free medical care at the hospitals while in contrast, I will be billed nonstop and it will be handed over to a collection agency if I don't pay. Hardly fair and it amazes me that illegal immigrants are asking for more rights and benefits - like the right to vote. That is totally ridiculous to me.
