The most important thing to do (in my opinion) is to make sure you have the latest build of VFP 5.0. In the command window type ?VERS(). You should see something like: Visual FoxPro 05.00.00.0412 for Windows. If you don't, download or order Visual Studio Service Pack 3 from Microsoft's web site.
I agree with Nigel that the upgrade is very smooth. You should definitely back up your 3.0 source just in case.
