Not exactly true. Some Cubans may love him but many in the Island do not. And certainly the almost 1.5 million that live in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Europe and other places. Security? He has plenty!

American citizens with cuban heritage, are americans and [should] have no proxy in cuba's affairs. If someone feels that strongly they would do what castro's side did:risk life, hold their ground and not flee. When they fled, just like aristede, they forfeited their proxy, os so it would seem.

I know there is a booming "cuban excile" industry. They have gotten some negative press and media treatment ("JFK", "All the Presidents Men"). There is a small pro-castro insudtry. Rep Cerano (NY) seems to be a spokeman for them. I saw an assistant secretary of state (Noriega?), a participant in that industry, take a pretty good egging at a congressional hearing. Maybe that's progress.

>Both ends of the spectrum are bad. Tom is correct in his assertion and Castro in not loved as you say.

That position is mosty limited to the "cuban exile industry", who [again], are americans, not cubans. Cubans live in cuba - have cuban passports - or so it would seem?

face and bragging rights.
It seems to have worked well for him.

Hey, thanks for blogging with me!:-)
