The seeds of imperialism extends back a long way. The pent up anger is long in coming. Its not the people per se, its the politicians who look at government as a way to further personal and business ambitions rather than as "public servants". At the same time the people vote for the same gangsters election after election. There is a nice saying - if you keep doing what you're doing, you're going to keep getting what you're getting. Only perhaps worse. I hope we can all find a way forward.

>This year we have one no vote, one vote for a born again dry-high, and one vote for an ambitious face inflator! Most of us are pretty nice - and the stuff you see happening we never imagined would ever happen. this is all new to us. never thought i'd see these kinds of days. never!. we've become a theme park for pent-up fire and brim-stoning xenophobes. Where are Abby Hoffman and Jerry Ruben?:-)

>>On the mark dude. Imperialism by any other name still smells as bad. Its unfortunate that the politicians no longer represent the people but rather big business. The result is "blowback", an excellent term from the CIA and discussed at length in (amongst many others) the book of the same name by Professor Chalmers Johnson.

>>As long as the powers that be continue to address the symptoms while at the same time fostering the causes of the disease there will be a lot more "blowback" coming our way.
In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends - Martin Luther King, Jr.
