>>>I used to know some cubans when I lived in New Orleans and from talking to them I understand that what they want for Cuba is democracy, freedom of speech, and a system of free enterprise. Is this what you call "extreme-right position"? :-)

>>Cubans live in Cuba, Americans live in New Orleans. The Cubans will create their democracy in there own time. Look how democracy building is faring across the sea. It don't look being liberated is all it's put up to be.

>Alex was talking about Cubans who live in USA. And I don't see what is so "extreme" about them wanting a free and democratic society for their native land?

There's nothing wrong with wanting anything, as long as you can get a majority to feel the sameway. Democracy at the point of a gun or under penalty of embargo is not a democracy, its a resource grab!. When the cubans that live in cuba are ready for democracy, they'll get it. Right now, from all I've read and seen, Cubans (in Cuba and the US) are pretty happy with it the way things are despite the embargos and propaganda. The Cuban Excile Industry would prefer things the way they are. They got millions just this year alone to broadcast radio marqui, which is jammed to the point of being useless waste of taxpayer money - yet you and I, who are paying for it, watch our libraries close and property taxes go up.

Was preventing a boy from returning to his only living parent the kind of democracy we should support?
