If you are sending e-mail from an application "behind the scenes" (i.e., without a user seeing it), I would recommend that you not use outlook and you should get yourself an ocx or DLL. That's how I did it in a product I am finishing up.
The product I used is SMTP.OCX (which was just upgraded into a DLL by the author). You can get it at vb4all.net and it cost all of 20 bucks or so. I am sure there are a few million others out there.
Hope this helps.

The first message is when I add the recipient, a message pops up saying "a program is trying to access the contact list, is it OK?" (I have to manually click yes) then when I send it, another message pops up saying " a program tries to send a message is it OK?" (again I have to manually click yes).
