I have added my vote the the wish list. I do believe that this would be a correct and welcome change to the language and would make it more consistent with other development languages. However, as changes go, I would bet this one is a relatively low priority.
I wouldn't say that there's no hope if this doesn't show up in VFP 9. But given that this has been an inherent behavior of FoxPro since its inception and that many developers have just learned to code around it, I doubt that this change is one that the VFPT will put ahead of other enhancements to extend the language. But you never know. Given the size of this thread and the fact that Microsoft VFPT monitors it, it may be obvious that there are a lot of users that would benefit from it and many that would not.
