I am really scraping the bottom of my memory here but, if memory serves, you need to close all the tables in the datasession (and the databases) and then SET DATASESSION TO another datasession. Once you move off the empty datasession (assuming that the datasession is referring to an orphan object reference as opposed to an object variable based on the session class) it should close the datasession.
Again, this is coming off the bottom of my memory here. I remember having to write code for a client to take care of orphan data sessions but that was a long time ago.
