Perhaps you can recompile your application in VFP 9.0 and show him the differences and expound on the enhancements coming in the report writer. Telling him that it will cost less to go to VFP 9.0 than Crystal should help out your case.

There will be a public beta of VFP 9.0 next month. I am doing a presentation on the report writer at DevEssentials and will have my session notes posted on my web site shortly after.
