An addendum to my posting: I note that I forgot to finish one paragraph, in the section where I describe my debugging strategy. Here is the rest of that paragraph:

So, I am using the Windows OutputDebugString() function to send output to the DebugView application running concurrently. In this way, I can see what is happening without using breakpoints.
