1. Get an independent writer to submit an article to the most popular trade magazine for that vertical market, giving some analysis of your application.
2. Release your press release to all major news feeds [not RSS, la] - Reuters, NewsWire, Bloomberg, etc.
3. Hire a marketing firm specializing in sw product launches.
4. Follow the marketing plan put forth in #3.
5. Contract a team of hungry direct marketers that can push your product to a targeted call list. Response rate will vary, but a demo increases the sales counts and percentages.
6. OH - buy a targeted demographic call list database from your favorite vendor.
7. What are the current thoughts of your internal marketing geek? Has he ever done a sw product launch before ? [my apologies, but I've just covered Marketing 101 for SW Products].

and of course, what ever trade show this vertical market has every year? get a booth, attend, and have projection screens with auto-demos running.
