There's little you can do when the server crashes. You could work offline and update after each n records. This way when the server crashes, only update records successfully added to local copy - problem: amending existing records. Or update after each record - problem: time drudge on large databases. Not much more I can suggest. The cause here was using fixed temp files and zapping every time - YUK!!
