I have a form where there are many fields including 2 that allow the user to select a customer. The first is a combobox that allows the user to select the lookup order for the customers (customer code, customer name, zip/postal code or telephone number).
The second is another combobox that actually contains the customers. There are four columns as above and the first column corresponds to the lookup order. If customer code is not chosen as the lookup order, the next three columns will be customer name, zip/postal and then telephone number.
The record source is an index table
The problem that I think the users will have is that there are no headings over the columns and the customer code will probably be numeric as will the zip code.
In this case I like the combobox control for selecting the customer because it uses minimal real estate until it is selected, has incremental search on the lookup order they selected, etc.
Is there any way to 'pop-up' a 4 column 'header' at the correct position above the combo box when it opens? I realize that I won't know the exact position of the combo box or the contents of the header until runtime.
Thank you in advance.
