>I have to admit I am perplexed by the sudden renewed interest
UT's reaction time isn't what it used to be. And it wasn't even a Friday :).
>- it's got me motivated to finish the shared mode FPT pack. I've also thought about, but not experimented yet with a shared mode DBF pack. Where a system does not rely on absolute record position (i.e. RecNo) it may be possible to shorten a file after moving all of the records at the end of the file over those that are marked for deletion. This has little value to me since I recycle records - with no actual index on Deleted(), I just toggle my primary keys between positive and negative.
How about many grid classes which keep a temporary this.nRecno() so they'll know which record is the current, for DynamicBlaBla purposes? Would they be affected?
Now I'm really getting curious :).
I was also playing with the idea of recycling records, and have even done so in a couple of apps, but it seems that the systems I was building in the last couple of years were either with small volume of data (so recycling didn't matter), or used SQL server (where it's practically handled by the server). I may probably do that again, if I get to stay on one framework longer than a year :).
p.s. my email address that you may still have is gone; the one I published here is OK.
