Hi,
Using the Station "A" or "B" scenario, Station "B" will only read what it knows about, i.e. if the read cache hasn't been updated it doesn,t know about station "A"'s changes. To add to the problem when station "A"'s write cache hasn't got around to writing the changes back to the disk, station "B" doesn't know about station "A"'s changes.
Read & write is OK for word processing or spreadsheets, but it causes problems with databases, the only other alternative is to use client/server or terminal services, but even then it is highly recommended that you disable write caching on the server, because in the event of power failure, incorrect server shutdown & hardware faults, the database can become corrupted because the cache hasn't been written back to disk.
Hope this helps.
