Main idea of M$ is based on the research of Gartner group, where is stated that till end of decade 80% of used business applications will be web-based.
It is true that you can very fast deploy web application with .Net(C#, VB, ASP) There is a lot of open source projects done to help developers to create web-portal, store, community, etc apps(
www.asp.net)
wbe based application could be hosted at public fast server and even clients woth low cost PC can access them through IE browser.
Client-server applications working in LAN we made with SQLServer/MSDE in same way as we do with VFP. But with VFP we made them 2-3 times faster and they work faster :-)))
