Craig,
>>After Microsoft's announcement yesterday, I would probably stay away from VSS as it looks like its days are numbered.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/teamsystem/default.aspxWell let's see it's numbered in terms of almost a year:
Quoting from the FAQs link from your link:
Visual Studio 2005, including Visual Studio Team System, will ship in the first half of calendar year 2005.Farther down the same page:
Q: What is the migration story to Visual Studio 2005 Team System if I am a current Visual SourceSafe customer?
A: There will be migration tools to make sure you can easily upgrade your database from Visual SourceSafe to Visual Studio 2005 Team System. So VSS databases can be migrated.
I'd wager that some enterprising 3rd party would be able to integrate VFP to the new tool if Microsoft doesn't release such a tool.
And migration would not even be required. Quoting again:
Q: What's happening to Visual SourceSafe?
A: We will continue to ship Visual SourceSafe as a solution for individuals or small teams. The Visual Studio 2005 Team System includes a server- and database-based change management system that is scalable to large teams and projects.
