I don't see this the same way as you do. We had to wait a while for VFP6 to be ok. If I remember correctly SP3 was the right one.

But I understand your motivations. If a product does'nt really give you things that are essential to your projects development then it does'nt hurt to wait a bit more before getting it. In your case SP1 for VFP 9.
