True enough...didn't mean to go 'off-topic'. For a very wide consumer base, the 'smart-client' approach isn't workable for those still running old machines and/or Win '95, or those using Pocket PCs and such.

My markets have generally been those with a corporate location, maybe 20 internal users, and about 150-200 (or more) field users. The field users typically have decent equipment, because they're running Excel, PPT, etc.

Ironically, I find that some of these users absolutely hate browser-based apps. So they are willing to do a one-time install of a framework in exchange for a better UI, so much so that I've been able to sustain based on that model.

There are ways (published on MSDN) to do automatic updates of 'smart-client' forms from the web, though I understand that process will be improved in Whidbey.
