>Is it Microsoft's job to keep our skills up to date or to keep us employed? I don't think so. Every big company has products that get premiere billing
Craig:
I agree with you here 100%. However, It would be nice if Microsoft would publish a document--marketed to "Hiring Personal"--stating that VFP developers will make excellent .NET developers( C# and VB.NET).
From my personal experiece, almost every recuiter, hiring director, or .NET developer that I have talked to believe that VFP is like dBase. They don't understand that VFP developers are very experienced in OOP and event driven programming.
For what's it worth I belong to a local .NET users group:
http://www.migang.org/Default.aspxAlmost all of these people think that VFP is a dBase language[think obsolete in this context], or worse never heard of it.
I'm not angry, I'm just frustrated that I'm at the bottom of the totem pole in the eyes of people that do the hiring/recuiting--below C++, Visual basic 6.0, and Java developers.
Thanks for reading!
