Am trying to control PCL printer with control chars from FPDOS.

I can correctly set pitch to 10 or 16.6 cpi, but am unable to set left margin in a way that 80 characters print per line in 10 cpi, which is possible because the Fox reporter does it.

Found the following cryptical info in an otherwise helpful site:

ESC & a n L 27 38 97 n 76 1B 26 61 n 4C Left Margin (0 Í n Ê 78; with 10 cpi pitch)
ESC & a n M 27 38 97 n 77 1B 26 61 n 4D Right Margin (1 Í n Ê 79; with 10 cpi pitch)

The cryptical part is: (0 Í n Ê 78; with 10 cpi pitch
What can it mean?
