I am not sure that this will help, but have you tried sending the RESET control string to the printer?

>We run fpw2.6 and have no problem using the HP4Si as a local printer. However, once we designate it as a network printer [we are using netware], the print job resets the printer to a wait mode and we have to physically press the 'reset' button on the printer to print the job. It really is annoying and would appreciate some expert advice here.
