You can place a transparent shape (designed as standalone class) over the grid and pass its Click event to grid Click event.
You can also calculate the row needed to be activated, based on grid RowHeight, HeaderHeight and mouse position inside the shape.
Bonus, you will have the standard cursor over the grid, not the vertical edit cursor.
