No. Me working overtime :-) :

Discovered that THISFORM.GRID.COLUMNCOUNT was generating a syntax error which was the clue to finding

#DEFINE COLUMNCOUNT 2

in a .H file. Hence

WITH THISFORM.GRID
  nCols = .ColumnCount  && nCols = .2 !!!
ENWITH

Arrgggh...
