are you sure your connection string 'works' between production and development sql servers?
also - be sure [as Sergey mentioned] to install a good mdac on your win98 box.

ADO ? yukkies..

but ? try to make a system DSN in the odbc manager, test the connection to your sql server, and see, at least, if that is working. Your admin may have something tied down, or the win98 ws may not be slinging the right protocols for sql server.
