Web development is not only about public sites - most of the projects are about intranets, with no reliance on external providers. This is the environment, running on the same wires as client/server was 10 years ago. Hosting with external service provider is a cool topic to discuss, but in reality, mission critical systems are running on the internal intranets rather then with off-site hosting.

I do not know why are you talking about "cash register and copier repairmen..." destiny. May be you are referring to those who try to push client/server on a closed LANs, then with this approach this may be true. However, all I can say is my company is overwhelmed with work - we build web portals with VFP, work together with .NET, PHP, nobody complains about the future of VFP, etc. Language does not matter! Just migrate to the web development (I mean not from VFP to another language, - stay with VFP and work together with other languages in web development) - and you will feel much better. (That was the reason for my "wake up!" call :)

Igor.
