I've seen this happening. I never programmed clipper, but began in FPD 2.0 right away. OTOH, my two colleages were programming clipper, and were persistent to it.

However, I think there is one major difference in the comparision here. Cipper was DOS, and was not making it into Windows on time, the problem was rather technical (Writing Windows applications in an event driven architecture). With VFP the problem is far from technical. It is about FUD and marketing.
