It's happened again. A client has requested that moderate changes to an FPW 2.6 be performed and that some of the data be published to the web. I proposed a 200 hours project that involved moving the app up to VFP5; the technical architecture manager at my company claims that since it's going to the web the data has to be moved to SQL Server and --- well, gosh -- the app should be moved to VB.
I run into this over and over --- people moving simple VFP/FP projects that were inexpensive to build and inexpensive to maintain to VB client/sever apps that cost 5 times as much and don't always work as well, let alone better. The app I described above only has 8 concurrent users!!!!!
When will this insanity stop?
