Kevin,

The Cecil POV is as good as yours and I dont see him as somebody on a "high horse" :)

In this case, the problem is not really the content, but the "container".

My personal oppinion on this is that if you want to advertise on the forum, you can buy a banner for the zones or the home page.

BTW, this thread title is clearly labeled "Press release".

If someone want to help VFPers to migrate to Dot Net, no problem! This is an opportunity to make some bucks and this is how the business work.

But, if you have to post something in the forum, do it in the right way!
A simple message about the new site, a short description and a link may have been more appropriate and seen as an "information" raleted to VFP instead as a "spam advertisement".

IMHO

(not a UT statement)

:-)

>You folks really need to get off your high horses and accept as reality that certain areas of the marketplace have strong interests in tools other than VFP.
>
>I saw it a couple of years ago, and invested in the time to make .NET one of my calling cards in addition to VFP. (Note how I say IN ADDITION TO...you people need to realize that going in this direction doesn't mean a total abandonment of VFP. Some of the comments on the forum have done more to polarize the issue than any other action).
>
>And I now have more options because of it. No, it's not a matter of the cynical mendacity of the forum member who speculated the motivation was because someone "can't make a buck on VFP"...it's part of the age-old truism that "he who has the most choices wins".
>
>I, for one, applaud the efforts of these folks to start some migration paths to .NET. (And for the record, I also applaud Ken for what he's done for VFP9). You may find yourself thanking their efforts someday. While I agree there isn't a ton of content up on the new site yet, there are some decent whitepapers that are worth reading.
>
>I'm sorry to sound so negative, but some of these responses are pretty immature and knee-jerk in nature. To quote Shakespeare..."thou doth protest too much". Instead of saying 'grow up', I think a more fitting suggestion is 'grow out'.

If we exchange an apple, we both get an apple.
But if we exchange an idea, we both get 2 ideas, cool...
