Hi David. I'll tell you a funny but true story. I had a user on the phone who I asked to press CTRL-ALT-DEL and told him to press first CTRL and ALT and then press DEL. We carried on discussing various issues while the machine re-booted. After about 10 minutes he asked me if he could let go of the keys since his neck was getting sore trying to hold the phone and his hands were cramping up :)

The moral of the story is that some apps are used by such a spectrum of possible end-users that one either programs to the lowest common denominator or builds a system which can prevent problems or restore from them. Programming to the lowest common denominator makes power users unhappy. Hence the second option is better. The feature under discussion would aid in this instance.

>>David, suggesting the app help file is an after-the-fact resource. By the time a user reads that he's already messed up the arrangement and is getting frustrated. End user training is very nice but not always a viable option.

>If it's really that hard a thing for the user to grasp and the help file doesn't actually help the user then it's a UI feature that should be avoided. Like I said in my reply to David I'm not arguing against the feature just raising an alternate point in the discussion.
