That should work, EXCEPT for ActiveX controls.
What I do is to first try the EXE without registering the ActiveX.
That may work for ones included with Windows.
If that doesn't work, I put that ActiveX in the same folder.
I run at the DOS prompt (or in a batch file):
%windir%\System\regsvr32.exe pathToActiveX\activex.ocx
