We are looking at our programming and design standards and making changes where required. We use many tools and backends (WebSmart, .NET, VFP8, Delphi, RPG, DB2, SQL Server, VFP tables, Advantage Database, etc). I need to determine what limitations VFP8 has so they can be taken into consideration for our internal standards. For instance, so all developers use the same variable naming conventions, field naming conventions, etc.

Here is a short list of a small amount of the required information:

Can the tool create and read files with long filenames?
What is the maximum length of a variable name?
What is the maximum length of a field name?
What limitations if any exist for variable naming conventions?
What are the maximum number of fields in a table?
What is the maximum length of characters in a string variable?
Does the tool support multi-threading?
etc.

I do not see everything easily accessible in the documentation so I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on where this information is centrally located?
