John, following all the thread is relatively clear that you are on the BIG part of the story (that means medium to big businesess). You like to think BIG; that's ok, but you are missing the widest part of the economy: small and medium businesess, which use to create something between 70%-80% of the employment of a country (so please do not underestimate them).

A lot of these businesess still run not so powerful machines (with Windows 98SE very often), and in a lot of cases they don't need to. You are in the same league as Bill Gates, talking about big dreams and not so dreams, but always in a world that does not exactly match the real world. That's why Microsoft is failing to convince businesses to upgrade to Office 2003 (or even Office 2000 from Office 97). So maybe (and only maybe) MS is not focusing well, or Mr. Gates dreams about technology does not match those from the people who use it. As far as I know, the number of upgrades for Office has been declining.

If something of the above is true, even at a small percentage, then maybe (and only maybe) you might not be focusing completely right. I respect your opinions, but as far as small and medium businesses is concerned, please be aware that they drive the economy. Do not make the big mistake of ignoring them.

>Yep...and they say vacuum tubes actually produce better sound than solid-state circuitry.... That said, I don't see an IPO's for vacuum tube manufacturers...
