To be exact:

GSPrint is an executable you can d/l as part of the GhostView files, if I remember correctly.

If I (also) remember correctly, GSV includes whatever it requires in the way of GhostScript.

But these statements are not the same as answering the question "do you have to install" either GSV or GS.

Sometimes people are asking this type of question because they're trying to figure out how they are going to get the capability on a target machine for their applications. The potential downside in any approach cannot be considered in a vacuum, so, when I want to help someone, I have to understand in what context they ask.

If rather than "do you have to install", you are really asking "is there any other way to obtain" GSPrint without obtaining GSV, I would say "GSPrint is part of GSV. It currently works with any AFPL version of GS 6.0 or higher".
