Jack, a manager would go with something that is not "the most popular tool" when he wants to build an application that is faster and outshines the "popular tool" built systems. And inheritance in VFP will save money on the next project.
If you want your systems to be like all the others, so it shall be. And perhaps you will be viewed similarly. To stand out takes guts. Please, do not be angry with my statements. I am not reflecting directly on you, just the fact that so many do not want to rely on their own analysis of situations and instead rely on someone to "tell them what to do".
I have a customer right now that had never heard of data-driven technology. I have bult them a system near-totally-data-driven. The manager is a *&^(ing hero and stands above all the others. The other "users" of the system are thrilled that "finally, someone built us a powerful, fast system".
