I asssume that you shut down and restarted after installing the patches - the kernal update won't take effect until a system shutdown takes place, and without a shutdown, memory lost to leaks won't be recovered. It is not sufficient to close all programs and log on as a different user; restarting Win95 is necessary to clean up the environment, and to make some of the .DLLs from the patches live (it is likely that several of them are active and loaded.)
Something is definitely wrong; even with Active Desktop running I don't see memory allocations like that under OSR2 or Win98 beta 3.
