This message has been marked as a message which has helped to the initial question of the thread.
>Can anyone tell me how I can get rid of the images via COM commands? Is there a COM property that relates to the collection of images in a document, or do I have to set bookmarks and go through and delete the images every time.

Word does offer the option of printing a document without the images. To see it interactively, choose File | Print and then click the Options button.

To automate that, it looks like you need to set the PrintDrawingObjects property of the Options object.
