Another thing to consider is the 1-to-1 reln. This isn't often used but may be useful in your case (I don't know what your data are).

Consider an employee record that includes details of his social club membership. Now consider that only half the emplyees actually join the social club. Then you have all those data redundant. If the employee decides to join then it's simple to create a "Club" record for him and link it to his emp. rec via the emp. ID. If there is a similar situation in your case then you might consider slipping some of your data to another table.
