Historically, the 'next' version has often been mentioned at DevCon - I specifically recall instances where it was referenced at the end of keynote ceremonies, if even for just a few moments. (I think JVP also raised this point).

I'm sure attendees will pose the question. If there's an answer, there's an answer.

If there's no direct answer, I'd bet you a nice surf-and-turf dinner that 9 is basically Valhalla.

My own personal opinion is that the new capabilities in 9 (I've been playing with the beta, have read most of the material on what's new, and will definitiely say it's very very nice) represent the 'going out on a blaze of glory'.
