If you want a report designer that can produce reports as good as Crystal Reports, then I think you will have to look elsewhere (Crystal Reports or SQL Reporting Services perhaps?) because if it has taken the MS this long to do just these enhancements to the reports functionality*, then I can't imagine how long it will take for them to catch up to Crystal Reports or SQL Reports.

* While I have read about the changes to VFP 9 Reports, I haven't had the chance to do much with it yet so I can't really comment on how useful the current enhancements really are.
