Walter,
The only place where I've seen dynamic pictures covered is in the other title by Brian Bischof that I mentioned. Bischof actually covers it across multiple versions of Crystal, because they took out some of the things you could 'hook into' in CR.NET (and then added them back into V10).
I couldn't see if it's in Craig's book - there's a section of code that shows how to add a picture to a section, but that's different than handling it dynamically. Maybe it was in the book somwehere else, but I couldn't find it. But regardless...
I don't disagree that book content can poison one's thoughts. There's a good amount of material out there that most could do without. A book that has received some good attention has some significant code samples that represent some very backwards and non-scalable thinking.
But I still strive to carry 1-2 books per subject that represent the creme de le creme (pardon the spelling). In the case of the CR book I mentioned, the author is a professional trainer, developer, consultant, etc. He actually discusses good vs bad practices in his book, and gives you the pros and cons of different approaches. I'm not pushing people to buy it, but I will say that after years of mediocre to fair books on Crystal, this one stands out.
