Craig, I would say that the majority of developers would agree with your standard. Tracy will need to determine if this is something that she wants to include in her doc, as she can see that there is a difference of opinion.

I think we would both agree that whether the vars are scoped at the start of a routine or just before it is first needed, a var MUST BE SCOPED. This of course is not a VFP imposed restriction it is a good development standard!
