I know this might not be the best place to ask this, but I would appreciate some feedback - as I couldn't find any opinions from VFP developers anywhere else. I was reading the following and it got me to thinking:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnaspp/html/aspnet-migratingphp-aspnet.aspI currently do not use ASP.NET, and haven't really had to do any web development as of yet to speak of - but am beginning to do my homework. After reading the above article at MSDN, I went to Barnes & Nobles last night and browsed through several books on PHP for a few hours, and must say the code samples seemed fairly easy for me to immediatly understand.
Now here is my thinking: I have no interest in changing my main desktop development from VFP as its not an issue in the work I do, although I am beginning to "play" with .NET so that I have a working understanding of it.
However, I am not going to blindly pick .NET when it comes to future web development, without testing other products (I am going to test the VFP web solutions that are available, and .NET as well).
Does anyone have any thoughts on PHP? or perhaps something else I have overlooked?
