Sorry, I need to ammend my previous response. When doing some testing, pessimistic buffering had some unusual behaviour. With pessimistic row buffering I changed a view field and then did a table update. I then did a SQL-SELECT on the underlying table and the old value was returned. I did nothing else and then re-ran the SQL-SELECT on the underlying table and got the new value. On optimistic buffering it would not return the new value until the related table was updated.
