You just put standard HTML tags around things, you know the attributes in the angle brackets < > (plus if you hit reply to a post you can see what tags they've used (you don't have to send the reply)). So, italics are < i > and < /i >, bold is < b > and < /b >, etc. Just take the spaces out of my examples. Use < pre > and < /pre > around code samples to keep the formatting (and create that white space that you see in some posts).
