Dear Mr. Kinnersley. After I found The O’Reilly Graph (http://www.oreilly.com/news/graphics/prog_lang_poster.pdf) based on your data (http://people.ku.edu/~nkinners/LangList/Extras/search.htm) about the history of programming languages, I could not find Visual FoxPro (or any previous versions thereof) on their chart. Backtracking their data resources, I found your ‘Language List” in which I found FoxPro V1.0 and V2.5 from Fox Software. Being a Visual FoxPro programmer, I was ‘disappointed’ not finding ‘my’ language in this extensive list. You will find all information about the history in any aspect on Visual FoxPro at the following site: http://www.foxprohistory.org/. This site is not up-to-date in regards to the latest news form VFP, which VFP 9 Beta (codename Europa). Another site where you will find ample information about Visual FoxPro is: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vfoxpro/. This Microsoft site (they bought the ‘Fox’ in the early 90’s) contains, amongst other data, the latest information about the development of VFP. I, and I am sure most if not all of the Visual FoxPro Community, would very much appreciate if you update your database and graph to include the complete history of Microsoft’s Visual FoxPro! I will send a copy of this e-mail to O’Reilly, so that they can update their graph and will post this at www.levelextreme.com for the Visual FoxPro Community. I would like to thank you in advance for your attention in this matter. Sincerely, Gunnar Philipp 1428 Rebecca Ann El Paso, Texas 79936 (915) 849-1516 www.RoyalImpact.com
