No doubt you had meant what you said. But as a developer, you know all too well that clients often mean what they say re: requirements, but do not have the slightest clue as to why they articulate the requirements they do. Example two, a person may mean it when they way they want to use C# over VB -but when pressed for details, they cannot articulate a single reason to justify why C# would be the better choice. In reality, the answer to the why question is simply this - they "go along" with what is the perceived popular viewpoint.

In a nuthshell - you don't have the slightest clue as to whether or not it was good thinking. Rather, the reason why you wrote the post as you did was because it is the perceived popular viewpoint - which is all fine, well, and good. I was curious as to whether there was any substance behind the comment.
