Your reference article written in 1998. In this time Java is on the one standart. Mobile devices needed care on some issues like C# or others.

Microsoft, C# is now a standard.?

I can't see a Borland C# or IBM C# but I can see;

Oracle Java Developer, Borland J builder, Visual Java, Visual Cafe ......

All them of compatible themselves...
