Fernando,

Thanks for the great post and the kind words.

I've been in online Xbase forums for about 13 years now, at first it was to get help trying to use the truly buggy dBASE IV 1.0 release. Because of the help I got on the old AT-BBS and the sense of community, I started helping the other newbies when they posted questions that I knew the answers to. I found the same sort of community when I started with FP2.5 and have always been grateful for the sense of sharing and helpfullness in the people, it really makes FoxPro the useful tool that it is. We are mostly all here for the exchange of information, instead of the petty bickering that goes on at times. I am quite glad to help answer questions and beta test, because it increases my knowledge and understanding and makes me a better developer.

You folks that come here and converse in English when it's not your first or second languages do a lot better than I could ever do in a non-English forum. I've never learned another language. I "speak" 40 some odd computer languages and dialects, but it's not quite the same. I had very good friends in college/graduate school, one from Poland, one who was Czech and one from Taiwan so I learned a lot about filling in the language gaps from talking with them.

Fabio and I have a bit of history, so my post was much more terse because it was not the first time it's come up. This bug report has nothing to do with ignorance (I'm sure Fabio is quite smart, he's said so a few times) or knowing the best way to make a bug report. A good bug report takes more than just repro code.

>I've been following this thread (as others where Fabio reports VFP9 bugs "his own way"). I agree with your argument that we all should provide well structured bug reports in order to the FoxPro team to not waste their precious time, to understand correctly what is being reported and to have all needed information to reproduce the problem. You are covered by reason, in my understanding.

>OTOH, I, as a newcomer to the VFP community, non english speaking person (well, think I improved my english writing 1,000% from when I begun to attend FoxPro forums, but I'm far from where I'd like to be) and, most of all, not yet well acquainted to the ways things should be said or done, can understand Fabio's, let's say, "random" way of posting bug information.
>
>One of those things I learned here and elsewhere is that we should give a discount to people's ignorance or inhability in the way things are or should be done, due to these things being new to them.
>
>Take myself as an example: I've been attending to FoxPro forums in a regular basis for the last 4 years, and from time to time (very frequently!) I do stupid things. Stupid to the eyes of you, people that belong to this community for a long time or have a different culture from mine. Many times (most) after being warned by you, our fellows, I realize what I did, apologise (if that's the case), try to correct and learn another lesson.
>
>Think this is the best way to improve ourselves, learning with your wisdom and experience and counting on your help, understanding, patience and condescendence.
